Gourmet Restaurant and Bistrot
The Château de Germigney invites you to discover its two gourmet addresses.
The first, the Gourmet Restaurant, orchestrated bu Chef Pierre Basso-Moro was awarded a Michelin® Star in 1999. The menu proposed is a subtle blend of locally-sourced ingredients with a pinch of sun from the Mediterranean.
The second, the Bistrot de Port-Lesney, is located in the heart of the village, right next to the famous blue historic bridge, it is just 650 yards down the road from the Château. Simple and tasty is the order of the day! If you are looking to relax in a convivial setting, this is just the place to be. The Bistrot has been awarded a Bib in the Michelin Food Guide.
Two Restaurants, two distinctive identities but joined together with their mutual respect for the quality of the produce and the congeniality of the service.
Are you looking for an idyllic setting to organize your wedding in Franche-Comté? A Gourmet Restaurant to invite your family and friends for a festive meal? Function rooms for a private or professional reception?
Garden and Natural Pool
As soon as you arrive at The Château de Germigney, let yourself be enchanted by the garden, designed by the famous landscape architect “Enea”. Whilst meandering in the garden discover the blend of natural beds which contrast against the more formal areas of the garden. With more than 3 hectares there is always a place for guests to find a little secluded corner, maybe under the shade of a century old lime tree, to simply take time to relax. The natural pool is for exclusive use of hotel guests and we hope that you will be seduced by the new ecological concept. In the garden we possess a beautiful old natural arbour – just perfect on warm days.
Should the weather permit, take advantage of the natural pool, with its untreated water.
Follow the paths in the garden to visit our little henhouse with our ten hearty chickens (Black Bresse Chickens) which supply the kitchen with fresh eggs used for cooked breakfasts. A little further, past the skittles and oversized chess set, come to our little herb garden.
Château de Germigney bears the name of the marquis who, during the 18th century, forged the identity of this former hunting lodge. The Marquis was a pure epicurean continually finding any reason, valid or not, to party. Sometimes we can almost hear the walls still laughing at all his antics. The love of welcoming guests to the Château still lives on and we hope that you may be amongst the future guests at the Chateau.
Whilst the chateau has always been a place of festivities the hotel was actually transformed into a hotel in 1830. The reputation and renown of the hotel was considerably enhanced by the late Mr Edgar Faure who was a regular guest at the hotel over a long period of time.
In 1996 the hotel was given a new fresh lease of life by Véréna and Roland Schön Enchanted by this manor, the esteemed couple of interior architects bought the Chateau and began the renovation works. In 1997 the Chateau de Germigney reopened and in 1999 became a proud member of Relais & Châteaux. The year 1999 became a very good “millésime” for the Chateau when it was also awarded a Michelin star!
Discover without further delay the charm of the Chateau with its historic past!
With the guidance of Vanessa and Arnauld Baert and the Chef Pierre Basso-Moro a strong team of 35 persons work at the Château, many of whom, have been here since the reopening in 1997. The team will do their utmost to make your stay relaxed and unforgettable.
